Already have one of those, doesn't work too well for that purpose and is very temperamental. I spend a lot of time and money trying to keep it running. Oh, and the actual price is hidden as well.

I’ve got this one on a table for sale in my shop. I’ll let you have it for $200, it’s the real thing, about 300 years old. Works great! Burn calories while you grind corn. LOL!

I don't know, Mt. Man... I keep thinking of all those archaelogical articles about how worn down ancient people's teeth were from the grit in their grain. :shocked_ma:

Mountain Man, I would love the stone, its really beautiful.... That would be my preference but its too rich for my budget...

Maybe its just the neanderthal men I know but if the woman were working in the above position ^^^ grinding corn all day they would have a very hard time getting any work done.

Re: I got my laugh for the day

This is where the expression 'nose to the grindstone' and in particular 'the daily grind' come from.. in the Medieval/Middle Ages 1066-1485 or so (and earlier times), most houses had a grind stone, a round stone setup in the middle of the house. It had a handle to turn the grindstone.

While the men were out working, tilling the fields, farming, reaping, fishing, building, weeding or whatever, the women would care for the children, and grind wheat etc. to make bread with. This would be a daily occurence. A hard life indeed. Presumably the men would return with a source of protein and fruit/vegetables occasionally to supplement the diet.

A hard life, but a relatively healthy one considering, as there was no trash in the diet as there is today in terms of processed foods, sugar water etc.

Nah, I've tried the more expensive models... Cost alot more to maintain and are much more tempermental. And you can forget getting any work done.

Depends on your definition of "work".

The perfect gift for the "woman who has everything". I wonder if Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama have one?

Bread maker is OK but earn it by making your first 50 loaves without. Crazy as it sounds making and sharing your own bread is a gas. Noticed bread loaf for 3.49$ at Albertsons today that I can make for under a buck with ingredients already in storage. Plus time spent with loved ones is priceless.
